Do you live in a walkable neighbourhood?

I came across this really interesting web link called "How walkable is your Neighbourhood?" http://www.walkscore.com/

I was disappointed in my score ( I live in Norseman/Sunnylea area of Etobicoke - near the Kingsway). It was only 45! Below average. I do find this a little funny because I can walk to:

  • shopping
  • movies
  • subway
  • parks
However, my neighbourhood could use some improvements. We could use a little more of everything. In my opinion, Bloor West (where I scored 66) has a fantastic selection of things to walk to. I miss it just a little but is only a short drive away (LOL).
Find out your score.

Got an 80 for our place south of Lake Shore in New Toronto.

Lots of people say that New Toronto is the next hot place to live. Check out the post comments on the skating trail to see the rash of comments. I love where I am too but nothing beats living by the lake!

Odd, we live fairly close to each other, yet while you only scored a 45 we scored 72.

Walk Score: 72 out of 100 — Very Walkable

According to this website, we can use either the Kingsway or Islington Village as our centres. We walk to the Kingsway pretty often but we never walk to Islington Village, even though it's probably not much further than the distance to Royal York Road.

I scored 73 and I'm in your neighbourhood! I guess being right on Islington has it's advantages :-)
